Adoption Form

Unfortunately we do not offer adoptions to students. This is because of how mobile many students are, and the number of students that would be away from their homes during the Summer. If you are continuously living in the same home we may consider an adoption

For private rentals/housing associations we require proof of tenancy. This should be emailed to info@thesheffieldcatsshelter.org.uk with your name as soon as possible. If your house has a shared entrance you will need permission from your neighbours before you can adopt. Proof of this should be sent to info@thesheffieldcatsshelter.org.uk with your name as soon as possible.

If you are planning to move house or have any renovations in the next 2 months then we recommend looking to adopt a cat after this, as cats need some time at home with their owners in order to properly settle in, without unnecessary noise and disturbance.

PLEASE READ - - Potential adoption appointments are subject to availability. They will normally take place in the afternoon, day/date to be confirmed upon process of your application and availability of suitable cats.
During the COVID19 pandemic, some cats will be rehomed from their foster placement, so you may not get to meet the cat before adoption. However, if this is the case, we will put you in contact with the fosterer so that you may speak at length with them to ensure a compatibility of the cat with your home. This can be discussed more with staff as your application progresses.
Potential adoption visits are subject to availability, and please do not visit until you have received a booking confirmation from The Sheffield Cats Shelter. If there are currently no cats available that suit your needs, we will keep your application on file for future consideration (up to 3 months).
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS CAREFULLY:
~The Sheffield Cats Shelter's cats are unable to be reserved in advance of a potential adoption visit. If you have seen a specific cat that you believe is suitable for you, we recommend pursuing booking a potential adoption visit as early as possible. Suitability is subject to our necessary checks.
~We will use the information given in this form to assess what cats would suit your household. We will contact you if there are any issues/any further information that we need before a potential adoption visit is booked.
~We will take every care to find the right cat for you, we cannot guarantee behaviours once they are in a home. Please be prepared to allow ample time for your new family member to settle in if you do adopt.
~The Sheffield Cats Shelter charges an adoption fee for all of our cats and kittens. The amount is £100 per cat and is a non-negotiable and non-refundable donation (including if you return a cat).
~The adoption fee does not cover the cost of us caring for the cats, and as a result any additional donations to the charity are very gratefully received.
~You must provide proof of address and a form of valid ID at the time of adoption.
~The charity reserves the right to refuse any application for adoption.

Please Note

1. We do not get back to unsuccessful applicants

2. Please be patient, we run on a small team of staff and have multiple applications for each cat so we have to ensure that we are making the right decision for each cat in our care
